Red jasper, carnelian and silver
Roman art, 2nd - 3rd century

These three intaglios are all engraved with Latin inscriptions. Two are carnelian and the third is red jasper. Most often, inscriptions on gems were intended to convey good omens, kind words and wishes for happiness. On the stone at the center of the ring, we can read the inscription KAAH, word of happiness.

Size 53 adjustable by up to two sizes.
